Nortel IP Phone 1120E notes

From Helpful

This article/section is a stub — probably a pile of half-sorted notes and assertions some of which may well be wrong, and not verified as a whole. Feel free to add or refine.

There seem to be a few variations that use the exact same serial number.

For the ones the Groningen University uses:

At any time in a menu, you can use the stop ((roundish) Stop sign icon) to exit

Contents

Generally

  • You can set the date format to something more readable (Options, Phone Options, 4th option)

Callers list (and personaldirectories)

  • Directory (book icon), scroll down for:
    • Corporate directory (apparently not so useful)
    • Personal directory (useful to assign your own names to display on incoming calls, and to use for your common outgoing calls)
    • Callers list.

In the callers list:

  • You can scroll through these entries (optionally filter by new/old)
  • Press right for details (Number, amount of calls, date/time of call)

Notes:

  • You can configure the logging to only record unanswered calls

Function buttons

There are two groups of functions, that you can switch between via 'More...'

Transfer, Conference Call, Forward

  • To transfer a call you have answered, use Transfer, phone number, and Transfer again
  • To forward all calls to your station to some other place, use Forward, phone number, and Forward again.
  • Converence call (?)

RngAgn, Park, Pickup

  • Pickup can be used to answer calls inside a defined group of phones (pickup group)
    • Within your own pickup group: Lift headset, choose Pickup

Pickup groups are defined by setting the same group number

  • RngAgn can be used to connect you to a person that was busy at the time:
    • When you get a busy signal, you press RngAgn
    • When their call is done, you get notified; if you press RngAgn again, you will call them.

  • Park can be used to 'store' a call and receive it elsewhere. Two common ways:
    • Store: e.g. Park, Park to store on your own, or Park, number, Park, to store elsewhere
    • Receive: Park, number

Glossary

  • DN: Directory Number: usually refers to internal extensions

  • FFC: Flexible Feature Codes: admin-assigned numbers for things like wakeup calls, pickup groups, etc.
    • Some features are accessible via FFCs as well as soft keys (FCCs also allow analog phones to use these features)
  • SPRE: Special Prefix code: (?)
  • SCPW: Station Control Password, allows phone security (mostly local, also remote)
