Allspice is known under various names, such as Jamaica pepper, Pimento, Kurundu Myrtle pepper, and newspice.
It is common in Carribean and middle eastern cuisine, and is also used in curries, as well as some desserts.
It tastes peppery, though it smells more like cloves.
In various languages
- Dutch: Piment, and also Jamaicapeper and nagelpeper.
- German: Piment, and also Nelkenpfeffer
