EZ-EG notes

This article/section is a stub — some half-sorted notes, not necessarily checked, not necessarily correct. Feel free to ignore, or tell me about it.

Yamaha EZ-EG is a MIDI guitar.

Fretted notes

Pressing the fret buttons send out NoteOn messages, at a velocity of 16(verify)

This is intentional, to allow hammer-ons, but since these fret buttons are not velocity sensitive, you cannot silently finger a new fret button.

Some VSTs may respond sensibly with such a low velocity, but if they just play the note as usual, then you may wish to filter out these events by velocity, or a apply a function to velocity to do the same.

Don't play locally

When you want it as MIDI controller only:

Press Capo+Tuning, then - to toggle off

(or just turn the volume as low as it'll go)

Limitations

  • Can't bend strings / vibrato
  • Pitch bend seems fixed to three octaves
