When is and isn't PWM a good choice?

DIY hardware audio platforms

Mozzi

Mozzi was aimed at microcontrollsers like arduino trying an improved flavour of PWM, but now supports also supports STM32, Teensy, ESP8266, ESP32, Raspberry Pi Pico, CH32, and more and can use some DACs.

Geared at sound generation, and being low entry seems to have give to a lot of experimentation[1]

Daisy

Electrosmith Daisy is a relatively specific hardware platform: ARM Cortex-M7, codec, and a bunch of RAM

Teensy

Modular-ish

OpenDSP

PiPicoFX / cortexguitarfx

RP2040, PCM3060 codec

Adds a display, encoders, pots, and guitar in and out

Guitar pedal style, Seems like a 'made for me' project but also like a good basis for both use and experimentation.

Code includes chorus, reverb, bitcrusher, vibrato, compressor
