The idea is to have information in the shape you were looking for, which often means augmenting data already out there
- links to good explanations, if they exist already
- details, if most resources are only summaries
- summaries, if most people only mention details
- contextualization, if most resources only get dry definitions
- dry definitions, where you only get fluffy roundabout stories
- a "why do this in the first place" and "maybe consider this instead"
- a "technically ..." alongside a "and usually this means..."
- intuitive bootstraps, like how a friend might explain it
It started mainly for more factual technical notes, say,
- distillation when searches don't details in one place, like common plugs and connectors, or lightbulbs, or all those symbols on electronics, or staple sizes
- summaries for work, like ZFS, EM file formats
- attempted summaries for larger topics, like code licenses
- refreshing knowledge I've forgotten since high school, like ions and ionizing radiation
At some point I decided that was a boring thing to restrict myself to, so it is now also home to messy general personal notebook.
And it became "I am learning new things by writing it out", which crosses from the everyday to the technical and occasionally into the esoteric,
- write-ups of specific hobby projects, e.g. notes made making an DIY electonic drumkit, DIY internet radio
- such as overviews of analog audio voltage levels, or video formats, electronics notes in general, dyes
- attempted research like whether rust is bad for you, how lava lamps work, the difference between doughs, batters, leaveners, the difference between distilled and demineralized water -- including everyday topics and everyday takes on them, e.g. why do contacts crackle, how people see colors and why the sky is blue and whether that may be different on other planets -- and the theoretical, e.g. what happens when you get thrown out an airlock, etc.
And later also personal opinions, and politics.
