DOS

Probably easiest to run under DOSBox.

WinColonize, the windows version, was developed for windows 3.1, so is a 16-bit app (installer, probably main game too(verify)).

This means it can be made to work in windowses up to and including Windows XP, though people do mention one or two crashing bugs.

Needs WinG.

Users of windows Vista/7/8 won't get it to install or run at all (16-bit stupport was dropped).

There are other tricks you can try, such as running DOS/windows 3.1 in an emulator.

But it may be easier to run the DOS version under DOSBox.
