Silicone is a group of silicon-based synthetic polymers , usable as grease/oil/lube, resin, sealant, and soft rubber-like materials, e.g. as solids or sheets.

Particularly the rubber-like material is often made chemically neutral, and if there are no additives to make it otherwise, it is generally food-safe, body-safe(verify).

It is heat resistant, so is also fine in the oven to to at least 220C(verify)).

The heat resistance can be increased with certain additives, which makes sense in certain hosing, but at this point it seems a balance of properties(verify)
