Conductive gels are water-containing gels that also contain salt.

Fancier variants may be easier to clean up, and may deal with higher salt concentrations


...but for DIY needs, a fairly neutral or friendly gel (aloe vera seems a nice choice), and regular salt, seems fine.

The amount of salt should be enough, but isn't critical.
