A dead language is generally understood to be one that is not native to anyone anymore, and as a result no longer developing.


If revived, even if taught from birth, you will probably never even know if nuance has been lost, so it will not be quite the same language. Of course, 'the same language' is always a little fuzzy to begin with, especially if there was never a formalized version.
