Dialectography is the study of dialects, which often involves the study of individual dialect features and changes


There is also dialectometry, which is more concerned with aggregate variance and comparison of language variants, be it in terms of phonetics, morphology or even just lexical choice.


A programmatic comparison that uses a phonetically aware model can be done with software like L04.
