On the loopback

The VT-3 has a loopback feature (defaults to on) that copies USB incoming sound (unprocessed) to to output (analog out and USB out).

This makes sense if you use it live performance (think DJ / beatbox), e.g. playing music from your PC, adding the VT-3's processed output, and then either taking the VT3's analog out to the console, or routing the PC-side output to be played.

It makes very little sense (and is initially confusing) when you want to use it from a DAW, because most DAWs will input and output on the same device, and that means you'll always get doubling. Worse if you monitor from the DAW. In these cases you'll want to turn that off.

It's also why you cannot get it to process USB-sourced audio. You can only it as an effects unit the analog way.

Turning the loopback off is described in the manual, but short version: hold MANUAL while powering on. The 1 button now signals whether sound from USB in goes (on) to analog out and back over USB or (off) only to analog out. Press BYPASS to save.
