Visual fixation[1] means gazing in a single location

e.g. in eye tracking, the more fixed parts between drift, saccades(verify), smooth pursuit

Fixation objects, often Fixation crosses - in research that presents stimuli to people and measures response, these are used as a rest between trials, as a simple neutral thing unlike the stimuli, also to signal a new trial is coming up
