MIME

Around computers, MIME has a strong association with email, specifically 'more than just plain text' email (being 'Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions') - see also MIME and mail (though that's barely an introduction)

Worthy of note is that what we now call Internet media type to give an often-out-of-band signal what kind of data something is basically started off being "MIME type"
